Kicks is the new name for what we have always referred to as sneakers. The previously not so popular shoes have taken the 21st century by storm. The shoe game has completely been turned around by the pronounced production of these famous shoes. They have become so prominent across the world and Africa hasn’t been left behind in embracing this new trend.
The demand for these shoes has really expanded over the past few years and this could mostly be attributed to popular culture or what some refer to as pop culture. Pop culture Popular culture is generally recognized by members of a society as a set of the practices, beliefs, and objects that are dominant or prevalent in a society at a given point in time.
These dominant practices and beliefs are usually transmitted through mass media platforms live television and social media among others. Not to sway much from the topic at hand,popular culture with regards to music,TV ads and movies have tremendously contributed to the escalated popularity of kicks. As the saying goes, put it on someone famous and its going to be famous. Numerous western musicians and TV personalities have embraced these shoes and their fans who look up to them for fashion inspiration have also not taken a minute to do the same. This is just one of the reasons why kicks are so popular across the world.
Besides pop culture contributing to the popularity of these shoes, kicks are really good looking shoes. This alone is enough reason to justify why they are trendy shoes. Its hard not to buy a pair of good looking shoes if you know what I mean. Not only are most kicks good looking,they are really comfortable too. Its safe to say that no one would choose to buy a shoe that is uncomfortable at the expense of a comfortable pair. So in a nutshell, kicks are fresh, good looking and comfortable and that’s why they are so pronounced in today’s fashion scene.
